Papua New Guinea Madang District Training Centre
Service Opportunity VisionTo disciple new believers and to support continued evangelization in remote areas, Madang District has put together plans for a district training center. The Nazarenes in Madang have already collected 40,000 kina for this project. Pastors and members have volunteered their labor and local churches are ready to feed the workers. The District Superintendent has planned for ongoing center maintenance within the annual district budget. Madang is eager to get building and then get training! Service Opportunity DescriptionMadang Province in Papua New Guinea has over half a million people and nearly two hundred languages spoken. Nazarenes have been in the province for thirty years – yet there are many remote areas that the Church has not been able to go into. To reach these people the Madang District is training up local Nazarenes who speak the many languages, know local tribes and can hike into these remote areas.
Already, this strategy has been reaping fruit – Madang District became its own standalone district in 2020 and the churches in Madang District have more than doubled in size each of the last two years (115% avg growth 2019-2021).
